Bathing babies is soggy business, you might as well turn a hose on yourself and have done with it.
And unless you happen to have an opposable tail (how cool would that be?) you will probably need to use both hands to keep your slippery wiggly wriggler facing up. With that in mind I made one of these.

I know it looks like a towel and a few bits of ribbon (it is), but it will also let you keep baby shampoo, a rubber duckie and (obviously) a towel about your person. It might also save you from getting soaked down to your underwear. Maybe.
You'll need:
- A towel. It doesn't have to be huge.
- Some ribbon, enough to make a neck strap and to go around your waist and tie at the front
- A sewing machine or a needle and thread.
Step 1:
Fold one end of your towel over by about a third to form a pocket, mark the depth then stich up both sides. like this:

See where the frog is sitting? well that's where I stiched up to.
Step 2:
Got your pocket? Brill. Pin and sew your side ribbon/straps at the end of the stiching. like this:
Step 3:
Fold down the top edge of your towel , also by about a third. Place, pin and sew you neck ribbon. Like this:

You could skip this flappy bit at the top, and just sew the ribbon to the top of your towel. I like the flap cause it makes drying the top of my pookie's pointy little head easier. The double layer of towel also stops all but a serious tubby time tsunami.
Afew things to note, while you can put your pookie in the pocket of your apron you will still obviously need to hold onto her or him. It might be an idea to test how well your ribbon washes before you sew it on. To stop the ribbon ends fraying I just toasted them with a lighter.
