I've posted before about how life changing we found using a nursing pillow to be. We were given ours by a friend and it made a HUGE difference at a difficult time. So nursing pillows, YAY!

Here's a bare naked Boppy, but these pillows have slipcovers, which is a good good thing! Between spit-up and blow-outs we had 3 slipcovers in constant rotation. The official Boppy covers are not bank breakers, and Target carries the whole range, but you could save some cash by making your own (and this way us obsessive types get to have a pillow that matches the curtains).
Kelsey at Vanilla Joy has a pattern and instructions in PDF form squirreled away. She also shows a picture of the strap and buckle arrangement (oooh, now that's clever) that her mama sewed on to her slipcovers.
Head on over for the lowdown on that method.
When I was making my covers I was too lazy to use a zipper (or a pattern) My super-slovenly method was to draw around the pillow straight onto the fabric. Instead of a zipper I just added a pillowcase-style flap.
Which looks like this, when it's inside out.

Oh boy. Please ignore the fact that this is finished in a really slapdash way and has been washed till it's threadbare. I'm sure yours will look prettier!
Also it's a good idea to lay out the cushion so that the opening faces the salvage, or the bias can make the whole shebang a bit wonky.

Oh my god. We do own an iron, honest, but both the fabric and the pillow have been stashed in storage for a AGES now. And I'm lazy.
If you're making covers this way and are feeling at all 'HUH? What the where now?' then do hit me up and I'll see if I can help
