Sew a Sweet Sun Hat

We've only had sun hat weather for a few weeks here but we've already lost a sun hat. Teddy can whip off a double-knotted-under-the-chin hat and toss it out of the stroller in the blink of an eye. While a spot of duct tape would likely solve the problem it's probably not advisable.

So I'll be making a batch of hats using The Purl Bee's 4th of July Sun Hat tutorial.

It has, as always, lovely detailed instructions and good self-explanatory pictures and it just happens to be completely ADORABLE!

to make it you'll need :

  • 1/4 yard each or red white and blue fabrics
  • 1/4 yards of fabric for lining
  • 3/4 yards of fabric for making the bias binding (though I will SO be using ready made binding and cutting out this step)
  • 1/4 yard of interfacing
  • cotton of corresponding colours
  • and the free printable pattern.

Head over to check out the full tutorial. You could also use tweak the instructions to make makebabystuff.com's equally cute Simple Hat. It is more of a big kid style. (*SOBS*).
