Hear that dull clanging noise? Well that is the sound of me being utterly awestruck, literally struck by awe. By what? Well lookit...

This is the Flower, Fruit and Vegetable Garden that LiEr of Ikat Bag made for her sweet little girls. Yup, that's right, MADE. And she's awesome enough to share detailed, printable instructions, printable patterns, ideas for easier alternatives and step-by-step photos. Wow.
It's quite an undertaking, and there are actually three different tutorials, one for the 'Dirt' and flowers, one for the peas and one for the strawberries (they're even pickable! meep!)

To get started you'll need
- A chunk of high density foam
- Brown flannel (or other fuzzy fabric) for the dirt)
- Coloured felt for the flowers/peas/strawberries
- piping (and wire to jam inside) for the stems of the flowers
- Embroidery floss for the darling little details
- and lastly, all the patience in the world.
Even if you're not so muchly with the sewing then LiEr's blog is absolutely worth a peek for the other fun stuff, (notably the Cardboard Lemonade stand) or even just to coo at the additional pictures of the 'garden'.
If you simply must have your own Garden (or Birthday Cake) but haven't the nimble fingers required then you could talk to LiEr about doing a commissioned piece.
