Inspiration: OWN the Baby Clutter

Mooching around Design*Sponge I spotted this picture of children’s book author Charise Harper's place and had a bit of an epiphany.

The toys. They're out. On DISPLAY! And they're... beautiful.

We have a nighttime ritual here of de-Teddy-ing the living room. We jam the toys in the toy box and rearrange the furniture to its former not-safe-for-wobbly-fellows configuration. Then we discuss current events and art.... SMwah hhahahahahah.... ok, I just wish the last part, but we do purposely re-grown-up our space.

The picture made me ask myself What if we DIDN'T? What if we OWNED the clutter, said, 'yeah there's kid stuff around... we have a kid'. Sure the toys up there are the very antithesis of Fisher Price and maybe our jars would have to be plastic but we could do that.  Teddy has some lovely things, we have a shelf... of course we would still have to toss the majority of stuff in the box or risk breaking our necks, but still, hmmmmm.

There's another shot that also caught my eye,

The portrait and chalkboard comb is so joyous, but the really cool part is that that lovely box on wheels is toy storage (cue another epiphany... toy boxes don't have to look like toy boxes).

Head over to Design*sponge for more shots of this lovely, kid-friendly house.
