We're big on making our own baby food 'round here. It means I know exactly what goes into Teddy, and it tastes loads yummier than the stuff that comes in the jars (thought we keep them around for lunches on the go). Fruit makes up a big part of Ted's diet, we've been using bags of pre-chopped frozen fruit. We blend up the raw soft fruit, like mango and blueberries, and add them to rice cereal or a bit of stewed apple. I was worried about the nutritional value of frozen fruit so I did a bit of research and found this very extensive article on the subject, it's a bit ponderous but it does say that:
'Frozen fruit and vegetable products showed little change in nutrient content if the storage temperature was well maintained.'
Which is a relief. In the late summer and fall we would stroll to the Farmers market and pick up whatever was fresh, now that it's winter there's no farmers market and the fresh fruit in the supermarket is crazy expensive and comes via air from places like Peru.
