Turning your babies room into a planetarium, (minus the grade 4 field trippers) sounds like a wonderful idea to me. The Twilight collection of nightlights by Cloud b do just that; they project the constellations (accurately) onto the ceiling, as well as providing a comforting nightlight. And they have soft arms! They come in a turtle, sea-turtle or ladybug design and are second cousins to the sleep sheep that Diy Maven posted about. A part of the purchase price of the Sea turtle is donated to the conservation of their real-life counterparts.
As an urban dweller this is as close to an unobstructed view of the stars as I'm going to get and it's on MY Christmas list (though I might share with Ted, maybe...)

That's nice to know. Santa didn't bring me one (!) But Teddy may be getting one for his birthday.
We got this as a Christmas gift for our 1 year old & he loves it. But it is too distracting to use as a nightlight, since he has always fallen asleep in a dark room. He love, love, loves it though!
