We made it! Ted's naming ceremony is done! There was cake and champagne, we lit a few candles and made a few speeches and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
We adapted a speech from something we found here. We lit three candles, one for thanks, one for memory and one for hope. I managed not to howl snot -bubbly tears.
We served high tea, which meant quiche, sandwiches, and CAKES... lots and lots of cakes! I am an enthusiastic (if not terrible skillful) baker so the prep was a lot of fun.
The guestbook is full of really lovely ideas and sentiments and the mason jars worked well as vases. We had a video link up with the folks back home who couldn't make it.
All
in all I think it went really well. And now I can concentrate on the
REALLY important business of obsessively watching the election coverage
on BBCworld and CNN.

(These are the day after pictures, hence no cake! Things were pretty frantic the day-of.)

Thank you, and yep, we cried a fair amount too!
Ted is Eight months old, The ''when' was more coincidence than planned, but it worked out nicely. He has a real personalty now and he likes hanging out with different people (he was a bit wary a few months ago).
What a beautiful way to welcome a new baby! That website where you got the speech from totally made me cry. Do you mind if I ask how soon after Ted's birth did you do the ceremony?
Sounds lovely! I noticed the blocks with Ted's name on them--how perfect for the occasion.
Thank you! We had a great time.
Wow! Congratulations on what sounded like a beautiful celebration of little Ted. The pictures are lovely.
