It’s called ‘elimination communication’ or in other words, ‘infant potty training.’ That’s right, potty training right from the get go! Not exactly a revolutionary concept as infants all over the world go commando. The idea is to get in tune with your baby and his or her elimination habits and take the appropriate action, which includes using a big or small potty, a sink or even a small container designated for such use. EC, as it’s called, is more comfortable for baby because she doesn’t have to sit in her own waste and because she doesn’t have a wad of material bowing out her little legs! Some people even claim that when going the EC way, babies spit up less and are more content in general. Also, with some planning, even naps and nighttime can be diaper-free.
