How to Write the Perfect Baby Announcement

So baby has arrived and now it's time to tell the world! That's right, we're talking announcements here and although the custom isn't exactly rocket science, there's probably a few questions you'll be asking yourself when the time comes.

To whom do I send them? Anybody and everybody you want! Family and close friends will probably appreciate/expect a handwritten note and picture via mail, but more acquaintances would appreciate an e-mail announcement.

When do I send them? ASAP but no later than 6 months after baby's birth day.

What do I include? According to Tiny Prints, announcements usually include an introduction, which might include a poem or phrase (more on this later); the baby's name; the birth details, including birth date, weight and length, and the family names including mom, dad and siblings.

Now back to that poem or phrase deal. There's no need to suffer writer's block! Check out Photo Innovation, Celebration Cottage and Fine Moments for ideas. They have something for everyone and every kind of situation, including holiday births, multiple births and adoption.
