Wee Baby Stuff

Baby girls look cute in barrettes. It's as simple as that.  Making your own custom barrettes is easy enough when you follow Everything Sewing's quick tutorial.

To make them, you'll need:

• 3/8" wide velvet ribbon
• metal hair clips (which E.S. says are available by the boxful at beauty supply stores)
• roll of self-adhesive magnet
• hot glue gun and glue sticks
• various bows or rosebuds

You can follow this jump to the complete tutorial, but note that the written instructions are a bit confusing. My interpretation, with the help of the picture below, is that you cut a strip of magnet 3/4 the length of the bottom of the clip. Remove the paper back of the magnet and adhere it to the top part of the bottom lever of the clip. Then you glue a strip of the velvet ribbon over the entire clip including the bottom of the top, the top, around the bottom to the top of the bottom, covering the magnet completely. The magnet should 'stick' to the bottom of the top of the clip, while the velvet ribbon covering should protect baby's hair. Right??
