A Few of My Favorite Things

With the holidays around the corner and our wee baby day down to a matter of weeks, I cannot help but have visions of charming baby gifts dance through my head. In fact, every time I see something wonderful, Judy Andrews comes to mind and I start humming, "My Favorite Things". The trouble is, rather than raindrops on roses or warm, woolen mittens, I'm singing of beautiful blankets and sporty strollers.

In honor of the lovely Ms. Andrews and the season of holidays and babies, here are a few of my favorite things:

created on: 12/16/081. Aiden + Anais Winter Weight Swaddling Blankets, $50 (there are several steals out there if you search around). These muslin must-haves are a dream. They are soft and delicious. For more information click here. I recently received my first batch on the doorstep, and I can tell you they are most likely going to be our baby's favorite blanket. Recently, Baby Steals featured the winter weight version on their Web site at an unbelieveable savings of 50% off. Given that the high that day was -5 F, I ordered a set and I an certain they will be just as dreamy as their regular-weight friends. Having recently received a bundle of receiving blankets at a baby shower, I can tell you that the Aiden + Anais blankets are far superior than the cotton flannel ones that have already pilled in their first washing. They are pricely, but keep a look out for deals. These blankets are certainly worth it.created on: 12/16/08

2. Sophie la Giraffe, $20. Lilybee posted a rave review about dear Sophie here. We recently received her as a gift, and she is absolutely delightful. Sophie will be a great companion for any baby going through the teething phase.

3. Micralite Fastfold Stroller with Carrycot, $280 for the stroller - $430 for the stroller with the carrycot (you can find great deals on this system; Mama Bargains has featured them all fall and winter). After much ado about which stroller to buy, we ended up purchsing the Micralite Fastfold with a matching Carrycot. We got it for a very reasonable price through Mama Bargains, and so far we are pleased. With a little practice, it's relatively easy to put together and it's extremely lightweight. Bruno is a master at opening and closing the stroller and has fallen for the adjustable handlebars. We both love the carrycot. It will be the perfect resting place for the baby in her early months and also serve as a great travel napping cocoon. created on: 12/16/08

4. Winter Pilot Cap from Hanna Andersson, $15 - $18.50. This cozy little hat is sure to keep your baby's head toasty warm. I love the style of this aviator cap, and the wide-range of colors make it an easy staple in any wee winter wardrobe.

created on: 12/16/085. Shearling Boots from Baby Gap, $13.99 on sale. Because I just cannot bring myself to buy the baby Ugg's I really want, knowing our baby will only enjoy them for 2 months, I am settling for these alternatives. They look furry and warm.

created on: 12/16/08created on: 12/16/086. Holiday Long-Sleeve Tees from Little Uni, $30. We celebrate HanukKah and Christmas in our house and when it comes time to introduce our babe to our special holiday traditions, we will have her sport these Little Uni tees.

created on: 12/16/087. Organic Wool BabyLegs, $9.95 on sale. BabyLegs are genius. They keep baby's legs warm and make changing diapers as pleasant as punch. These sheep's fleece BabyLegs are extra special because they are full of organic goodness and they have all of the moisture-absorbing properties of wool. The perfect winter treat.

Package these in brown paper and tie them with string and soon you'll be singing along with me.
