There may be a Golden Rule when it comes to the order in which one is supposed buy baby supplies, but I've never done this before, so I bought a fantastic high chair that has me so excited. It's the Graco Contempo in Rittenhouse.
The pattern matches the artwork in our dining room so perfectly that I feel like the people at Graco designed it with our house in mind. It's just adorable. It also folds 42% slimmer than your average high chair; folding down to a super slim 7 1/2 inches wide, it can easily be stored in a nook in our kitchen. For a skinny high chair it also boasts some great features: a 6 position height adjustment, a 3 position recline and a dishwasher safe tray insert. It also has a coated seat pad that will no doubt be easy to clean when our little babe smears peas and carrots in all the nooks and crannies babies manage to find.
The best part of the whole experience was that, after
some internet scouring, I found this gem at Albee Baby for the
incredibly reasonable price of $79.99 (full price this baby runs
$129.99 and higher). It arrived to our front stoop in perfect condition 4 days after I
placed the order, and it required no assembly.
I first saw the Rittenhouse pattern during a layover in the Dublin
airport earlier this summer. There was a darling Irish mother toting
her young son around in a Graco travel system (car seat and stroller)
from the Rittenhouse collection. I have had a love affair with black
and white toile for the last year, and I was so impressed by how
unbabyish the pattern was. Bruno and I have a goal of doing whatever it
takes to prevent our house from being overrun with pink and blue baby
stuff, and this high chair - though in storage for the next several
months - fits the bill.
