Nursery Flooring: At-a-Glance

created on: 09/10/08

If you're lucky enough to be shopping for flooring for the new baby's fabulous nursery, you may want to consider just a few things.  Most of these are fairly obvious, but it never hurts to look at the pros and cons.

Carpet     pros: soft, warm, cozy  cons:  can hold dust mites, may get dirty easily

Wood      pros:  easy to clean, neutral, durable, easy to change decor  cons: hard, makes a large room echo

Area Rug     pros: can be used with carpet or wood, softens the room, good play area for baby, can hide stains, worn out spots, can match nursery decor   cons:  can get messy

Mat or Activity Gym   pros: stimulating for baby, nice play area   cons: can look cheap in a bedroom, put it in a play area other than the bedroom

It looks like a win-win with the area rug.  So whether you're using what you have or installing wood or carpeting, an area rug can add an extra touch of baby darling-ness to your nursery while softening the room.
